SAN ANTONIO — A 25-year-old man was arrested this week and accused of raping two women and attempting to rape another women over the last four years.
Keon Cray faces three counts of sexual assault, as well as burglary of habitation, and attempted aggravated assault of an elderly person. San Antonio police said the assaults all happened on the northeast side of San Antonio.
Police say in 2019, he approached a woman from his car with a green Uber light and offered her a free ride. He allegedly took her to a home and raped her. Then in 2021, Cray allegedly broke into another woman's house and raped her. In 2022, he broke into another woman's home and tried to rape her, but she fought him off and he fled the area. The victim in that case was a woman over the age of 65.
Detectives used advanced DNA testing to connect Cray to all of the crimes, police said. A trace of DNA was left behind at each of these scenes. Police said there was no connection between the victims, and the attacks appear to be random.
"These women were very brave, that is a difficult thing to do...to come forward and relive that kind of crime," SAPD spokeswoman Camelia Juarez said. "This is a case that shows you that evidence matters, and that justice can be served."
Police say they believe there may be more victims, and they are asking anyone with information to come forward. Please call the Special Victims Unit at 210-207-2313.
This is a developing story.
