SAN ANTONIO — A teenager was shot in the calf early Tuesday morning by a suspect he told police was a "childhood friend."

It happened around 12:19 a.m. in the 1200 block of Chalmers Avenue, near Division Avenue and Nogalitos Street, on the southwest side of town.

Police say the teenager was in front of his home when a car with the suspect inside pulled up near him. The "childhood friend" reportedly had some sort of "beef" with the victim and fired off five rounds, hitting him once in the calf.

Police say the victim ran off after being shot and it took officers about 15 minutes to find him.

The neighbors were yelling to the victim to shut up, according to officers. Police say that everyone around possibly knows who the suspect is, but nobody is talking.

The victim refused transport to a hospital.

This is a developing story.
