'I'm glad we got him behind bars': Teen with warrants arrested after challenging law enforcement to catch him on social media

Sheriff Javier Salazar said last week the teen tagged him in a post saying "tell the gang unit to katch me."

SAN ANTONIO — One teen was arrested today after challenging officials to catch him while uploading a series of social media videos that featured him attempting to burglarize a car and removing his ankle monitor, according to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.

The 15-year-old teen posted videos using his name and face making it easy for police to arrest him on the 11000 block of Spring Club on Tuesday.

Salazar said last week the teen tagged him in a post saying "Tell the gang unit to katch me" featuring him taking off his ankle monitor at Warren High School and dumping it off.  He was originally on the ankle monitor for a robbery that took place in Austin, according to Salazar.

The teen then tagged BCSO in a second video of him attempting to steal a DPS patrol vehicle from the state trooper's residence in Pflugerville.

"He's a dangerous person and I'm glad we got him behind bars."

Salazar says, the teen has been conducting robberies from Austin, San Antonio and Williamson County totaling six counts of robbery. These charges come as the teen was traveling in the area with another group of teens and adults conducting robberies. Salazar says some of these robberies include aggravating kidnapping with one case involving them taking a 14-year-old at gunpoint.

Salazar describes the group of teens as a crime ring with a total of four or five people involved reminding him of another incident that occurred on Bald Mountain Drive back in October of 2022. This incident also involved a social media challenge where a group of teens cut off their ankle monitors and challenged law enforcement.

"I think they are doing it for the following they get on social media, the thrill that they get," Salazar says.

Salazar said the teen has been taken into custody with six charges of robbery and another for taking off his ankle monitor.
