'Texans on a Mission' deployed to help folks recover from Hurricane Beryl

A week after the storm tore through South Texas, help is still on the ground helping others.

FREEPORT, Texas — A local group called "Texans on a Mission" is helping others recover from Hurricane Beryl one week after the storm tore through South Texas.

They have deployed their San Antonio chainsaw team to help homeowners in Freeport impacted by the storm.

The chainsaw team is made up of members of Shearer Hills Baptist Church here in the Alamo City.

One of their assignments this week has been on a house that a tree fell on where seven people, including a baby, live.

John Weber, who is a part of the chainsaw team, says while they're trained to help people on their spiritual needs, sometimes they need to priotize physical problems as well.

“This is a Christian family, and they are thrilled to have here and the whole purpose of our work, whether it's to a Christian family or not, is to try to show the love of Jesus Christ and be the hands and feet to help these people out," said Weber.

"Texans on a Mission" were able to cut the tree down on the front and side of the house to help the family.

Beyond the chainsaw team, "Texans on a Mission" opened its mass kitchen that can serve between 6,000 to 30,000 meals a day.
