SAN ANTONIO — On Christmas Eve eight years ago, the Rawson family's lives changed forever.

The family said their son, Tatsuki, was involved in a serious crash that caused him to have a cerebral infarction. The left side of his skull had to be removed so his brain could swell without causing more damage.

After the surgery, family members say, doctors gave Tatsuki 72 hours to live.

Eight years, three hospitals, pneumonia, blood poisoning and several other issues later, Tatsuki is still fighting.

But recently, loved ones say, his health has been rapidly declining and doctors informed his family that he only had about two weeks left to live.

The family contacted KENS 5 asking for help. They were able to raise enough money to get to their son in Japan, but they now need help paying for the funeral and medical expenses.

If you would like to donate, here's the family's GoFundMe.
