Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush praised President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the United Nations Educational, Scientific Cultural Organization.
In a statement released Wednesday, Commissioner Bush showed his support for Israel, saying that "America has no better ally and no truer friend in the world than Israel and today's decision says loud and clear that the UN badly needs reform."
Commissioner Bush previously traveled to Israel in 2016 to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The two discussed potential Israel-Texas partnerships on several issues, including technology and desalinization.
In his statement, Commissioner Bush reiterated his position on the UN’s role at the Alamo: "I said it two years ago and I'll say it again: The UN will never have any role or influence at the Alamo as long as I am its guardian.”
Previously, The U.S. had chosen to withdraw from UNESCO in 1984 during Ronald Reagan’s presidency.
