DALLAS — A 5,400-acre ranch with a stone mansion, an option for more housing development and a distant view of downtown Dallas is now for sale.

The South Creek Ranch listing was announced by Dallas brokerage Icon Global this week. A price wasn't disclosed for the property, which Icon described as "spectacular as it is rare and exclusive to any other land within minutes of the DFW Metroplex."

The ranch is the former home of Dallas executive W. Ray Wallace, who died in 2016. Wallace was the CEO of Trinity Industries, an industrial company that provides railcar products and services.

Wallace's former property sits off Interstate 45 in Ferris, straddling the border of Dallas and Ellis counties, about 25 minutes southeast of downtown Dallas.

At the heart of the ranch is a gated compound featuring a 23,000-square-foot stone mansion that was built in 2000 and overlooks a lake. The ranch is also home to the Woodstone Development, a 64-acre project that began in May 2020.

One phase of homes has already been constructed and sold. The buyer of the property would have the option to continue development of Woodstone, according to Icon. Part of the Woodstone development would include around seven acres of commercial development along Interstate 45.

"This property ticks all the boxes for smart money land bank and estate planning investment, with interim use, entertainment enjoyment, and existing revenues," Bernard Uechtritz, owner of Icon, said in a press release.

The ranch is also located along the new Loop 9 corridor. The highway project, which is under construction, will run along the north border of the ranch. Loop 9 will connect Interstates 35, 45, and 20, and U.S. 175.

The ranch currently runs cattle and produces and sells hay, sand and gravel, according to the Icon listing.
