SAN ANTONIO — A man wanted for child sex crimes in Bexar County was recently arrested in Jackson County, Missouri.
Sean Joseph Haynes was previously convicted of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Missouri in 2008. He was set to be sentenced for another case of child sex crimes in Bexar County last year.
The 48-year-old is accused of sexually abusing a San Antonio girl, starting when she was 7-years-old. The victim made an outcry in 2019.
Haynes was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child in Bexar County. He pleaded guilty last summer, according to the victim's family. However, right before his sentencing in November of 2023, authorities say Haynes who was out on bond, cut off his ankle monitor and fled.
Authorities located and arrested him in Kansas City on September 30, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office told KENS 5. Haynes was charged as a fugitive out of state, and is being held without bond.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is aware of the recent arrest.
“Our BCSO Extradition team will coordinate his return to Bexar County upon the successful completion of the extradition hearings,” a BCSO spokesperson said.
The victim’s family has waited five years for Haynes to be prosecuted and sentenced. They are hoping justice will finally be served.
KENS 5 will follow updates in the case.
