SAN ANTONIO — Authorities responded to an apparent "oil field explosion" in Dimmit County, located about 100 miles southwest of San Antonio.
Dimmit County Fire Rescue posted on Facebook shortly after 3 p.m. that crews were heading to the scene, saying there were "reported casualties." Sheriff Chris Castaneda confirmed to KENS 5 there was an explosion, but couldn’t elaborate on the location or if anyone was killed.
Around 5 p.m., DCFR posted an update saying that the fire had been extinguished and no firefighters were injured. Authorities did not provide an update on other potential injuries.
They added that Railroad Commission is handling the investigation, and local investigators were on scene as well.
