Discover inspiring artwork at the State Fair of Texas

The State Fair of Texas accepted 9,000 entries for artwork this year. The winning works of art are placed inside showcases displayed for all to enjoy.

SAN ANTONIO — Everything is bigger in Texas and the Creative Arts Building at the State Fair of Texas is home to the coolest artwork you’ll find in the Lone Star State!

Hundreds of art pieces have a home under one roof. That's where you'll find the Creative Arts Building director, Kathy Bennett. She couldn't be prouder of the artwork she found at the 'Kid's Corner'.

"I wanted to buy that and put it in my house," Bennett exclaimed excitedly. “We have a special area for our kids because we really try to encourage kids to enter and to learn a new craft.”

With encouragement, anything is possible for these young artists.

Weighing 880 pounds on the other side of the building is a butter sculpture.

“It’s called a truckload of fun,” Bennett said.  “Animals, cake and Big Tex is driving the Chevy car.”

Kathy wants visitors to feel something when they view the showcases.

“I want people’s creativity to peak when I leave here.”

She's making sure the little things, are not forgotten.
