Watch the moment a giraffe lifted a toddler out of a pickup truck at a Texas drive-thru safari

As soon as the giraffe lifted the two-year-old up by her shirt, the child's mom gave a motherly yell and got her daughter back.

GLEN ROSE, Texas — Family fun at a Texas drive-thru safari turned into a heart-stopping couple of seconds when a giraffe snatched a toddler right of the pickup truck she was in with her parents.

It happened at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, which is about 55 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

Two-year-old Paisley was sitting down in the family’s truck as her parents drove the winding safari path. She was holding onto a bag, one that a girafee at the attraction apparently had its eye on.

Dad Jason Toten described the moment the fun took a turn.

“Paisley was holding the bag like this," he told CBS affiliate, KWTX. "The giraffe went to go get the bag, not get her, but ended up getting her shirt, too, and picking her up."

A driver who was behind the Totens captured video of the Paisley being hoisted into the air.

“Soon as she went up, her mom just yelled, like ‘Hey!’ and the giraffe just kind of let go,” Toten said.

The family said aside from the scare, they had a great time at the drive-thru safari and plan to go back at some point. Paisley even got a stuffed giraffe at the safari gift shop, a reminder of the day they’ll likely be talking about for a lifetime.
