DFW AIRPORT – A prisoner being transported through DFW Airport's Terminal C was shot by the officer accompanying him after an altercation, according to airport spokesman David Magana.
The officer and the prisoner got into a fight in a restroom near Gate 8 in the terminal, and the prisoner was shot in the hand, the spokesman said.
The officer was also hurt in the altercation, and both he and the prisoners were transported to local hospitals.
The prisoner was being transported by two Tulsa, Okla., deputies, News 8 has learned.
Magana said it is not unusual for prisoners to be transported through the airport's terminals, but couldn't say how frequently it occurs.
The airport's operations are continuing as normal and the only area closed is a check-in counter at Gate C10 before security.
