Texas has the worst feral hog problem in the country, researchers say

The company said Texas had 2,425 feral hog reports and the pigs were found in 99.6% of the state's counties. Coming in second, Georgia had 1,377 feral hog reports.

TEXAS, USA — Researchers say Texas has the worst feral hog problem in the nation, causing around $2.5 billion in agricultural damages each year.

The data was collected by researchers at the University of Georgia and published on behalf of the company Captain Experiences. It's worth noting that the company offers fishing charters and hunting guides throughout the country.

The company said Texas had 2,425 feral hog reports and the pigs were found in 99.6% of the state's counties. Coming in second, Georgia had 1,377 feral hog reports.

Rounding out the top five, Florida comes in at third with 1,193 reports, Mississippi at fourth with 731 reports and Oklahoma at fifth with 665 reports.

The hogs can reach up to 5 feet long and weigh as much as 400 pounds.
