HIGHLANDS, Texas – A Highlands mom was arrested Monday after her 6-week-old baby was rushed to a Houston hospital by Life Flight.
Dawn Elizabeth Greene, 24, is accused of biting the baby repeatedly, striking him with an unknown object and throwing him to the ground.
Deputies said Greene was passed out next to the bleeding baby after a concerned relative called them. The baby had bruises and teeth marks all over his body.
Dustin Autrey said he is the baby's father.
"It's just when she's drunk, she gets like that," Autrey said.
The baby was treated for internal bleeding and other injuries at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Greene is charged with injury to a child.
Her teeth and hands were classified as deadly weapons, according to court documents.
"He had internal bleeding in the head, bruises on his back and head and bite marks on his leg," Autrey said.
He has been fighting for custody, but his name was not put on the birth certificate.
Autrey was supposed to see the baby over the weekend, but said Greene kept making excuses. He said she then admitted to hurting their baby.
"She kind of mumbled that she bit him," said Autrey. "It's been one of my biggest fears because she did it to me."
Greene is being held without bond.
The baby is now in the custody of relatives.
