DALLAS — Friday marks opening day at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, and even though we live in South Texas, we couldn't miss out on it.

First up, some basics: The fair runs until Oct. 20, and single-day tickets will run you $24 each. A digital pass allowing access for the fair's entire run costs $50, while physical season passes cost $60. A map of the fairgrounds can be viewed here

KENS 5 Reporter Simoné Simpson traveled to the fairgrounds to break down the spectacular sights, carnival sounds and sumptuous foods visitors are enjoying on day one.

Simpson went over the safety measures that are in place to keep families safe while attending the fair, including a strict limit on bag sizes that officials are are asking visitors to adhere to. Fair organizers also teased ways for visitors to save before even getting to the fair.

With more than 255 acres of land for food, games and rides, the State Fair of Texas offers plenty of fun. Below, Simpson provides a rundown of all the entertainment your family can enjoy.

While exploring the exhibit, Simpson stumbled upon Dinosaurs on the Lagoon, which features 10 life-sized dinosaurs that brings educational entertainment for the entire family.
