A Travis County corrections officer has been charged after authorities say they discovered she had a romantic relationship with an inmate convicted of capital murder and brought him a cell phone while he was jailed.
Tasha Lass, 36 -- a 17-year veteran officer testified during the punishment phase of Milton Gobert s trial Thursday that she provided Gobert with a cell phone so he could call her, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office.
Gobert was convicted last week of fatally stabbing a friend of his ex-girlfriend and seriously wounding her then 5-year-old son.
Lass had already been placed on administrative assignment while investigators looked into allegations she was involved with Gobert.
Lass has now been charged with providing a prohibited item in a correctional facility -- a 3rd degree felony.
Bond was set at $50,000, and she was fired from the Travis County Sheriff s Office.
Another female corrections officer resigned in 2007 after revealing her relationship with Gobert while he was behind bars.
