SAN ANTONIO — After spending all day outdoors in the heat for your Fourth of July celebrations, you may find yourself already longing for the much cooler days of fall and all the festivities that come along with it.
This weekend’s lineup of events include a couple of “spooktacular” events providing an early taste of Halloween with a summertime twist. Plus, whether you’re looking for a calm and family-friendly way to spend the weekend or you want to hit the club and party, there’s something going on for everyone to enjoy.
Spooky Barbie-Q
What better way to mesh July Fourth and Halloween into one thrilling night than with a Spooky Barbie-Q block party? Presented by The Haunted Dollhouse Museum, the Friday event invites guests to dress up in their favorite spooky Barbie look and enjoy a night in a haunted house with haunted dolls, scare actors and free barbecue.
There will be vendors, music, entertainment and scary surprises, making for a unique Summerween experience.
When: Friday, July 5 from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

First Fright Day
Also hosted by The Haunted Dollhouse Museum on Friday, small businesses along Hildebrand between Blanco Road and San Pedro Avenue will be participating in a similar Summerween celebration.
Dress spooky for First Fright Day and enjoy vendors, games, music, drinks, food and more. The free family-friendly event takes place every first Friday of the month.

First Friday Art Walk
If you’re not quite yet in the spooky mood, we’ve got you covered. San Antonio's longest-running monthly art event returns at Blue Star Arts Complex.
The First Friday Art Walk was established in 1994 and founded by local artists, starting out with just a few artist-run studios. The event has since evolved to what is now an entire neighborhood experience. This month's new exhibits feature Nigerian-made tapestries, the solo exhibition "My Body Is Not My Body" by Jesselyn Gordon, and Leeanna Chipana's exhibit "Kaysaypac," which blends indigenous iconography with classical European techniques.

Reggaetonlandia
Enjoy a Saturday night out dancing to reggaetón and Latin EDM at 1902 Nightclub. Reggaetonlandia Party & Experience is a 21-and-over event that embraces the ever-evolving Latino movement and offers a vibrant, energetic vibe all night long.
Partygoers can expect colorful décor and confetti blasts, special VIP guests, and music from top DJs playing the best in reggaetón and Latin EDM.
Guests are encouraged to wear fashionable clothing and arrive at the event early for parking.
When: Saturday, July 6 at 9 p.m.

Alfred Robles at LOL Comedy Club
Throughout the weekend you can catch stand-up comedian Alfred Robles performing at the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club.
Robles pursued his comedy career after being kicked out of the police academy. He was featured in hit shows like Loco Comedy Jam, Stand Up Revolution, Mr. Iglesias and Entre Nos. He is also currently on a world wide tour with Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias.
The comedy event is for ages 18 and up.
When: July 5-7 at 7 p.m.

Adults can catch a retro movie every Friday until July 26 at Collins Garden Library for free. This week’s retro flick is "Dirty Dancing." The screening begins at 2 p.m. on Friday. Come hungry! Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Then, on Saturday, don’t miss another weekend of free family-friendly fun at Mission Marquee Plaza. Start your morning with yoga and a farmers & artisans market and end your day with an outdoor film screening of Pixar's "Elemental." Admission is free, parking is available on-site and the venue is pet-friendly.
