HONDO, Texas — Thousands of people and businesses have power again after a gas leak caused major outage in Hondo.
According to the Hondo police chief, Rise Broadband workers were installing internet lines at Avenue V when they struck a two-inch gas line near an electrical line. The homes in the immediate area were also evacuated due to proximity to the electrical line
The majority of the town, including schools, lost power due to the substation being offline. Additional officers were brought in, with some being assigned to HISD campuses while the power is out.
Around 2:15 p.m., Hondo police posted to its Facebook page that power had been restored.
