Three cats dead, dog missing after fire spreads to home from garage, SAFD says

The fire is estimated to have caused around $150,000 in damages.

SAN ANTONIO — Three cats are dead and a dog is still unaccounted for after a fire spread from a garage to a home on the far west side of San Antonio Thursday morning, firefighters say.

San Antonio firefighters responded to the 700 block of Cypressbrook Drive around 4:45 a.m. for reports of a house fire.

When first responders arrived at the home, the house was fully engulfed in flames. The homeowner told officials they went to the kitchen and saw smoke coming from the door leading to the garage, then opened the door and saw the garage on fire.

The man and his wife got out of the house, but said three cats didn’t make it out and they still can't find their dog.

The fire spread from the garage into the home. The homeowners will be displaced due to the amount of damage, which is estimated at around $150,000.

The cause is under investigation by fire investigators.

This is a developing story.
