Teen shoots at officers during chase stemming from carjacking, police say

SAPD said the teens crashed the car and then ran off, firing at officers before being apprehended.

SAN ANTONIO — Police say three teens carjacked a woman and then led officers on a chase in a stolen car on the city’s west side early Tuesday morning.

San Antonio Police were called to a Walgreens located on Commerce Street and South General McMullen, not far from Rosedale Park, after receiving reports of a stolen vehicle around 3:45 a.m.

Police said the teens held up the woman at gunpoint at the drugstore, then stole her car. Officers said the car they used to get to the Walgreens was also stolen earlier in the night.

Police spotted the stolen car and began to give chase, which led to the teens ultimately crashing the stolen car.

The three teens bailed out of the car. One was apprehended during a foot pursuit, one was found hiding inside a trashcan and one was found hiding in the bushes.

Multiple weapons were found on the scene that police say belong to the suspects.

An SAPD sergeant stated that during the vehicle pursuit, shots were fired at the officer by evading suspects. But, bullet casings have not been located yet and no hits to any property or vehicles has been found.

The driver stolen car that the teens took to the scene of the carjacking was able to evade police and has not been located.

The suspects in the vehicle that initially transported the suspects to the carjacking scene also evaded police and escaped.

No injuries were reported. Police are still investigating this crime.
