WALKER COUNTY, Texas — Two people were arrested on Saturday after more than $1.2 million worth of methamphetamine was discovered in their car, according to a news release.
Twenty-three-year-old Brittany Ceballos and 24-year-old Michael Juarez were pulled over by a Walker County Sheriff's Office deputy on Interstate 45 N at 8:05 p.m. The deputy's K9 smelled drugs in the vehicle and alerted the officer, per release.
The officer reportedly found suitcases with over 137 pounds of methamphetamine inside the car.
Ceballos and Juarez - both reportedly from Big Springs, Texas - were arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance. The charge is a first-degree felony that carries up to 99 years in jail time and fines up to 10,000, per state law.
“This seizure is a prime example of the critical work our deputies are doing every day to protect our community from the devastating impact of illegal drugs. We are committed to keeping our communities safe and removing dangerous substances from our streets," Sheriff Clint McRae said.
