Two people cut from vehicle after crash near downtown, police say

According to officers at the scene, two cars collided at the intersection causing one of the cars to roll over.

SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to cut open the roof in order to get two people out of a car after they crashed and rolled over near downtown late Tuesday night.

The San Antonio Fire Department responded to the intersection at South Pecos La Trinidad and West Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. for reports of a rollover crash with victims pinned inside.

According to officers at the scene, two cars collided at the intersection causing one of the cars to roll over. Two people, a man and woman were inside of the flipped car, and both had to be cut out.

Firefighters had to go in through the roof to extricate both people, who were then taken to Baptist Hospital downtown with minor injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured. They did stay on the scene for further questioning by police.

Police are still investigating the crash and don't know who is responsible at this time. We also don’t know if either driver will be charged.
