United Way's Project Warmth campaign, aiming to keep more children warm this winter

“It’s really good to help out people in the community, and kind of provide some basic necessities, that you and I may take for granted.”

SAN ANTONIO — While temperatures are still warm, the United Way of San Antonio wants you to think about the colder temperatures. The organization is once again launching their Project Warmth campaign.

The campaign aims to keep children in need, warm this winter. This year they are doubling their goal, and hope to collect 500 new coats.

"It's a really big relief to parents to have one less thing that they have to worry about, because that's money that can go towards bills, or maybe gifts for their children during the holidays," said Kevin Femmel, Director of Communications, United Way of San Antonio.

The organization says with inflation, the need is as great as ever.

"Everyone is hard pressed and people are using jackets that are a little bit older, or maybe they've added a couple of little ones to their family," said Femmel.

Coats have to be new, and have a price tag. You can drop them off at select coffee shops.

Coats can also be shipped directly to the United Way if you donate to their Amazon Wishlist.

You can also text "PROJECTWARMTH" to 41444 to donate.

No matter how you donate, The United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, says you're making a big difference.

"It's really good to help out people in the community, and kind of provide some basic necessities, that you and I may take for granted," said Femmel.

Drop off locations:

Early Bird Coffee (Huebner Oaks 11745 I-10 #527),

Starbucks (Alamo Quarry 225 E. Basse Rd.)

Olmos Perk (5223 McCullough Ave)

United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County (700 S. Alamo St.)
