SAN ANTONIO — We're a week away from Halloween, and if you're looking for free family fun, the Universal City Pumpkin Patch is where you need to be.
Its the city's ninth year running this event with the help from nonprofit, Parks Partners, and volunteers making it happen.
The pumpkin patch offers a hayride, face painting, carnival games and food vendors show up on the weekend.
This entire event is free and money raised will go to 27 nonprofits in the community.
A small group of women created the idea for a pumpkin patch nine years ago
The leadership says they do all of this to give back to a place they call home.
"We want everyone just to really love being here. We have events all year, but this is the biggest, so, we want to make our city something that we're very proud of and I think we've made a difference," said Lori Putt, long time pumpkin patch volunteer.
The patch is located at 2150 Universal City Boulevard behind the city's municipal and fire department building.
It's open Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The event is open until the end of the month.
