SAN ANTONIO — As the UTSA Roadrunners open fall camp, this week the team has also parted ways with a player.

On Thursday the team announced it suspended senior linebacker Martavius French, citing allegations of personal misconduct.

“UTSA Football senior linebacker Martavius French has been indefinitely suspended from all football activities due to allegations of personal misconduct," UTSA Head Football Coach Jeff Traylor said in a statement sent out by the University's Athletic Department. "We take these allegations very seriously and a full investigation is ongoing.”

The suspension of French now marks the third suspension the team has seen this summer.

In July, the team suspended teammates Nick Booker-Brown and Corey Lucius Jr. for their alleged involvement in an aggravated robbery. The pair of arrests happened days apart from each other.

Officials have not said if the crimes are related or not, but court documents show both players' charges stem from incidents that took place on the same day: Feb. 3, 2024.

UTSA's Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Lisa Campos & UTSA head football coach Jeff Traylor released the following statement following the suspensions of Booker-Brown and Lucious Jr.:

“Nick Booker-Brown and Corey Lucius Jr. are no longer members of the UTSA football program. We have high expectations of conduct for all of our student-athletes, coaches and staff, and we will never compromise on those expectations. We are looking forward to the start of preseason practice on July 31 with an excellent group of young men in our football program.”

Lucious Jr. and Booker-Brown are facing two counts of aggravated robbery.

This is a developing story.
