UTSA celebrates groundbreaking of newest residence building, Blanco Hall

The dorm room will add 594 spaces for students to live on campus and will also feature a dietetics kitchen.

SAN ANTONIO — The University of Texas at San Antonio marked the groundbreaking for their newest residence hall on Saturday afternoon.

Blanco Hall is the newest dorm room under construction at UTSA. The building will add 594 spaces for students to live on campus and will also feature a dietetics kitchen.

The dietetics kitchen will feature classes and workshops where students can learn about chronic disease prevention, healthy habits and prepare specialized meal plans.

The project will cost nearly $86 million and will span almost 163 thousand square feet.

Upon completion the UTSA main campus will have almost 5,200 beds which means the school will have hit 95% of its goal to have 5,400 beds on campus by 2025.

The completion date is expected for June 2025.
