SAN ANTONIO — A mother of a Robb Elementary victim said someone stole her purse which had irreplaceable items inside, including her son’s toy that he had given her the morning of May 24,2022.
Felicha Martinez is the mother of Xavier Lopez. She said the car burglary happened while she was at Cowboys Dance Hall Monday night in San Antonio. She said someone broke into her vehicle and stole a tote bag which had her purse inside it.
She did not realize it had been stolen until she got home to Uvalde that night. Wednesday afternoon, she said she drove to her son’s gravesite to apologize to him.
“I’m here at the cemetery, telling him I’m sorry because, once again, I lost something precious to me,” Martinez said.
Inside her purse were several items honoring Xavier, including a necklace.
“It’s a heart with his thumbprint, his picture, his angel wing,” Martinez said.
She said they also took a fidget spinner that he had given to her the morning of the massacre. She said he always had it on him and for some reason, decided to let her have it until she saw him again.
“I never saw him again, that’s the last thing my baby touched that he gave me,” Martinez said.
All she wants is for whoever took these precious items from her, to give them back.
“Please, just please give me back my stuff, that’s all I have left of my baby, that I never get to hold again, I never get to hug again, that’s all I have left of him,” Martinez said.
Martinez said she is working to get in contact with SAPD to file a police report. Police said on Monday night, there were nine reported vehicle burglaries at Cowboys Dance Hall.
