Vacant west-side home goes up in flames, SAFD says

Officials say the home was empty and thankfully, nobody was hurt.

SAN ANTONIO — A vacant home on the west-side went up in flames early Friday morning, but thankfully nobody was injured, according to firefighters.

The San Antonio Fire Department responded to an abandoned home on the corner of Estrella Street and SW 41st Street near Old Highway 90 W and South Acme Road around 12:30 a.m. for reports of a structure fire.

When fire crews arrived they found a vacant home with visible flames on its exterior.

The battalion chief said that the cause of the fire is still being investigated but he believes the fire started on the exterior and that no flames reached the interior of the home.

The battalion chief also stated that original notes on the fire have led him to believe that the fire reached under the home which was being addressed by fire crews breaking holes in the floor to investigate.

No Injuries were reported and the fire remains under investigation.

This is a developing story.
