SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are looking for the person who broke into a pizza parlor on the northside Monday morning.
Alan White, owner of Sofia’s Pizzeria, has been in business at three locations for the past four and a half years. The Bitters location was hit at 6:15 a.m. on Monday.
“As small business owners, it definitely puts a dent in your operations,” White said.
Surveillance video shows a masked-hooded man break through the storefront and steal the cash register. The individual made his way in and out of the business under 20 seconds before taking off in a getaway car.
“Just from what the police told me, it’s like a glass punch like you’d use to break a car window. You can tell he’s done it a couple of other times,” White said.
White said the person seen in the camera footage is most likely disappointed with what was inside the cash register.
“Not really any cash left on the premises so just coins in the register,” White said.
White’s relieved none of his employees were at the store when the burglary took place. He’s now focused on the future and fixing the storefront window, which will cost about $1,200.
“The biggest expense really is the cost of the window and getting it replaced,” White said. “The community support is always a good thing to see knowing that for every bad person out there, there’s probably 10 plus more good people out there.”
