WILSON CO.-- A confrontational video has gone viral. It appears to show a woman stealing from a donation drop-off bin.
We did some digging and learned that the location is in the San Antonio area, specifically Wilson county.
KENS 5 found the woman who was caught on video, and the woman who caught her.
It was Easter Sunday when Erica Orr caught someone pulling items out of a donation box, so she pulled out her cell phone and caught the whole thing on camera.
The video speaks for itself.
“You do know those are for donations, right?" Orr says.
"Yes, I do," the caught woman responds.
"Ok, so you can put those right back."
"I’m sorry."
Orr described to us what happened that day.
“Before I confronted her. Like I said I had seen her going into the shed, taking out a bag and placing it in her vehicle. And I was just like, 'you’ve gotta be kidding me. It’s broad daylight. It’s Easter Sunday,'” Orr recalled.
"People like you are absolutely disgusting. This will be turned into the police officers," Orr exclaims on camera.
"I took this one too. I’ll put it back," the woman responds.
"Yeah, you need to. I’ve got your license plate. You will be turned in so expect a call from the cops. You people are sick. Absolutely sick. Taking away from children," Orr says in the video.
Orr called the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office who said there was not much they could do.
“Being that she wasn’t here and they couldn’t place that value on it there was really not much more that he could do for me, but he was taking the report,” Orr said.
Orr added that this isn’t the first time she’s caught someone stealing from that donation location. She says the last time it was a trio and it ended in an arrest.
Orr posted the video online to try and deter others from stealing.
KENS 5 tracked down the woman in the video. She says the video has it all wrong.
“I was just trying to help a family in need. I went about it the wrong way and I’m sorry that I did that to everybody,” said the woman accused of stealing.
She says she went to the authorities to try to clear the air.
“They told me that no charges will be brought against me," she said. "Because they understood that I was trying to help and not hurt. And thousands of people every day take and they don’t get caught.”
Because no charges are being filed, KENS 5 decided not to show her face.
Orr still stands by her decision to post the video for all to see.
“I’m hoping that if people are thinking of trying to take from the children’s home or anywhere that has donations. You’re going to be caught. You’re going to be in trouble," Orr said. "It’s not right. Don’t do it."
