'We need justice': Single mother found dead in her home on Friday, BCSO searching for killer

Ana Ojeda, 33, suffered sharp force injuries, according to the medical examiner. On Monday, many gathered for a candlelight vigil.

SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is investigating the death of a 33-year-old woman. Ana Ojeda was found dead in her home on Friday, authorities say.

Deputies were called to the 11000 block of Davalos Lane in the Luckey Ranch neighborhood after a friend reportedly found Ojeda lying face-down on the floor. Authorities say the woman was concerned after she was unable to get ahold of Ojeda. When she stopped by the home, the woman said she found the door unlocked with Ojeda dead inside.

According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, Ojeda suffered 'sharp force injuries to her upper body.'

Ojeda’s killer is still out there, authorities say.

On Monday, loved ones gathered at Ojeda’s house for a candlelight vigil.

“She deserves justice,” sobbed Ojeda’s mother, Ana Morales. “No woman in the world deserves this!”

Those who knew Ojeda described her as a ‘beautiful soul’ who was ‘full of life.’

“She was a single mom who was working hard to raise her daughter,” said Unise Casillas, Ojeda’s cousin. “Ana was just a happy person. She comes from a large family, and we all want justice for her.”

Ojeda leaves behind a 6-year-old daughter, loved ones say.

“She is so young,” said Casillas. “Having to tell a 6-year-old that … it’s going to take some time for us to even find the words to tell her. So, as of right now, she is still here. Mommy will continue to live in her heart, but we haven’t found the words yet.”

Naomi Cruz says her cousin worked hard to save up enough money for a home. She says Ojeda wanted to give her daughter the best life possible.

“I don’t want anyone to be scared to share what happened,” said Cruz. “Even if it’s something small like when you last spoke to her or saw her active on social media on Thursday, if someone mentioned her name; any form of information can help. Just please come forward.”

Cruz set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses and to support Ojeda’s daughter. To donate, click HERE.
