SAN ANTONIO — This March marks the 6th year since Amalia "Molly" Garza disappeared. Her family continues searching for answers, and wants to make sure she is not forgotten.
"It would mean the world to me, to know where my daughter is," Sylvia Garza Gonzalez, Amalia's mother said.
Gonzalez spent Sunday with her family handing out fliers about Amalia's case.
"To get an answer from somebody out there, that knows something," Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez said not knowing what happened to her daughter Amalia, has taken a toll on her both emotionally and physically.
"This journey has taken me up and down, up and down, you know health wise, not good," Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez said the last time she spoke with Amalia was March 1, 2018. Gonzalez says Amalia was heading to a party with her boyfriend Steven Rendon. Amalia was suppose to call her mother the next day, but that call never came.
Two years after Amalia disappeared, San Antonio police arrested Rendon, charging him with holding a woman against her will and sexually assaulting her for nearly 2 weeks. Rendon is currently serving time. Rendon has never been charged or been named as a suspect in Amalia's disappearance.
"We just want to find her. We just want to bring her home. It's been six years," Priscilla Garza, Amalia's sister-in-law said.
Standing with Amalia's family is the non-profit Search and Support San Antonio. The organization helps families of the unforgotten, advocating for the missing. They provided the fliers that were handed out on Sunday.
"They have something in their hands, they can go back to it take a look, what are the facts," Nina Brooks from Search & Support San Antonio said.
The family hopes someone who sees the flier will come forward with information. Even though it's been 6 years, Gonzalez said she is still hopeful Amalia will be found alive.
"It will bring peace to me and happiness, because without her being by my side, I'm never going to give up," Gonzalez said.
