Witnesses and police officer rescue man trapped underneath motorcycle and SUV on north side

A police sergeant on scene praised the witnesses and officer for their heroic actions that he says essentially saved the man's life.

SAN ANTONIO — Several witnesses and a San Antonio police officer rescued a man who was trapped underneath a motorcycle and SUV on the north side Thursday morning.

Police say an older man was on a motorcycle exiting a parking lot on Blanco Road near Parliament Road when an SUV was turning into the parking lot.

Police say the man laid the motorcycle down and skidded to stop himself from hitting the SUV and suddenly became trapped underneath the vehicle.

The man's arm and upper body were pinned, authorities say.

A group of strangers who witnessed the accident along with a responding officer helped lift the SUV off the man which allowed the man to be pulled to safety.

Police say the man was taken to a hospital for several lacerations in unknown condition.

A police sergeant on scene praised the witnesses and officer for their heroic actions that he says essentially saved the man's life.

Police are calling this incident an accident and say the driver of the SUV is not facing any charges.

No other information was provided.
