A woman was charged in the death of her four-year-old daughter, according an arrest report.
Jessica Briones, 34, was arrested on a charge of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.
Her arrest affidavit said she brought her daughter, Olivia Briones, to the Northwest Police Substation at 5020 Prue Road on September 5.
The child was reportedly unresponsive and appeared to have several injuries to her face, head, legs and arms. The child was taken to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead the following day.
The report said Briones told police the child hit her head by accident recently and had been vomiting.
The Medical Examiner said the child’s brain was severely swollen. The arrest report said the child also had a black eye, a fracture of the vertebrae, a deflated lung, and evidence of previous injuries. The official cause of death is still pending.
