SAN ANTONIO — A woman was grazed by a bullet after she was shot while trying to enter an apartment she said she used to live in, according to police.

San Antonio Police responded to the 700 block of South Sabinas Street on the west side around 4:45 p.m. on Monday for reports of a shooting in progress.

When officers arrived at the location, they found the 40-year-old victim with a graze to her lower extremity from a bullet. Police say she did not need medical attention.

Police say the victim used to live in the apartment and had moved out, but still had ownership of the property. She returned to the unit, which was supposed to be vacant, found it locked and so tried to enter through the window to "check on the property."

The suspect, a 38-year-old woman, was inside the unit and fired her weapon towards the victim as she came in through the window, believing she was trying to break in to the apartment.

Police say that both the suspect and victim are claiming ownership of the property.

The suspect was found to have three unrelated active misdemeanor warrants and was arrested on those warrants, police say.

The shooting is still under investigation.

This is a developing story.
