Passenger assaults Uber driver before exiting vehicle and walking into oncoming traffic, according to SAPD

Police say the driver stopped to help before the woman she was rushed to the hospital.

SAN ANTONIO — According to San Antonio Police, one woman was sent to the hospital after she assaulted an Uber driver, exited the vehicle and walked into oncoming traffic overnight. 

The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. on the 8500 block of Northwest Military Highway near Phil Hardberger Park.

The woman was a passenger in an Uber vehicle who the driver says started hitting and slapping him from behind while he was driving, according to SAPD. The Uber driver then pulled over and told the woman to get out. Police say the woman broke the windshield and door handle of the Uber vehicle. 

When the woman realized the driver was calling police she walked into oncoming traffic and was struck by a passing vehicle, according to San Antonio Police.

Police say the driver stopped to help the woman before she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. 

Northwest Military was closed from Wurzbach Parkway to Cembolo Boulevard. 

The investigation is ongoing.
