Woman shot after fight over parking space, police say

Police say the victim stopped her vehicle on the street, blocking the suspect in. A fight ensued and the man pulled out a gun and shot her in the leg.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman was shot in the leg in the downtown area Saturday afternoon after police say she got into an argument over parking.

San Antonio Police responded to the intersection of Applewhite Street and East Fest Street near the King William area around 3 p.m. for reports of a shooting in progress.

When officers arrived at the restaurant, they found the 21-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to her leg waiting with her passenger, who witnessed the entire incident. Police say the victim was driving with her passenger when she stopped and blocked in another vehicle that was in a parking lot.

The driver of that vehicle backed up and hit the victim's vehicle on the passeneger side. That driver, the suspect, then got out of his vehicle and started arguing with the passenger of the car he ran into.

He then then pulled out a handgun and fired multiple times in the direction of the victim and the witness. The victim and the witness took cover on the driver's side of her vehicle and one of the bullets hit the victim on her right leg, police say.

The suspect then fled the location before officers arrived and could not be located.

Police are investigating. This is a developing story.
