Woman drove herself to nearby McDonald's after being shot on west side, SAPD says

The woman was sent to the hospital for her injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman shot at a west-side CVS was able to drive away to escape further violence Monday afternoon, San Antonio police say.

Officers arrived to the convenience store near Culebra Crossing Shopping Center around 4 p.m. and found a vehicle with bullet holes, authorities say. But no victim was at the scene. Eventually, they found her at a McDonald's down the street where she escaped to after the shooting incident.

Police say the unidentified victim had been shot in her thigh and hand, but she was still able to provide a description of the suspect before officers found him at his apartment. Family members told police the man and woman had been in a relationship. The suspect has been identified as Rakeem Asmore, 23.

The woman was taken to a local hospital and police continue to investigate.
