Woman shot in leg in drive-by shooting on west-side, police say

The victim was on a front porch when someone drove by and fired off multiple rounds hitting her in the leg.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman was shot in the leg in what police say was a drive-by shooting on the west side of town early Wednesday morning.

San Antonio Police responded to the 1500 block of Calle Valencia, not far from Castroville Road, around 2:37 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived they found the victim, a woman in her 20s, with a single gunshot wound to her leg. She was taken to University Hospital.

Witnesses told police that the victim, as well as some family and friends, were on the front porch when a vehicle drove by and someone inside it fired off multiple rounds. Police found five shell casings in the street.

They did not have a good description of the vehicle the suspect was in.

No other details were available.

This is a developing story.
