Woman suffers smoke inhalation after fire destroys her home, SAFD says

The Battalion Chief said that 75% of the single family home has been damaged by smoke and fire.

SAN ANTONIO — Fire officials are trying to figure out what sparked an early-morning house fire Friday just east of downtown.

The San Antonio Fire Department responded around 3 a.m. to a fire reported on East Crockett Street near East Houston Street.

The Battalion Chief said that 75% of the single family home has been damaged by smoke and fire.

Officials say that one woman in her 60s was in the home when it caught fire and was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The estimated damages from the fire are around $60,000.

Officials are not sure what may have sparked the blaze, but the investigation is currently underway.

No other injuries were reported.
