DALLAS — A severe storm packing winds of 60 mph and dumping golf ball-size hail caused damage across North Texas. A brick wall collapsed onto cars in the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District.
A wind gust of 100 mph was reported at WFAA-TV's transmitter tower in Cedar Hill as the storm blew through the area.
Oncor reported 76,861 electricity customers were without power in Tarrant County; 3,547 in Denton County; 82,790 in Dallas County, and 1,098 in Collin County.
A business lost a roof as storms damaged the area along Interstate 30 in Arlington. I-20 was closed in both directions at Cockrell Hill Road due to downed power lines.
Dallas Love Field remained open to incoming and outgoing flights, but passengers were facing delays of up to an hour. At D/FW International Airport, 60 departures were canceled and 40 incoming flights were diverted.
There were no confirmed reports of tornadoes, but multiple reportings of straight-line wind damage and uprooted trees.
The Dallas Zoo reported that all guests and animals were safe, although multiple trees were knocked down and the facility was without power.
