The widow of a Corpus Christi police officer and her husband's killer are the focus of a BBC documentary airing Wednesday night on the National Geographic Channel.

The episode of "Life and Death Row," which will air at 8 p.m., follows the execution of Daniel Lee Lopez, who fatally struck Lt. Stuart Alexander while fleeing police in an SUV on March 11, 2009.

Lopez, who was put to death Aug. 12, 2015, sought to be sentenced to death after he was convicted. The episode is named "No Appeal," which references his desire to expedite the legal process.

Vicky Alexander, Stuart Alexander's widow, said in a Facebook post that although reliving the memories were painful, she agreed to be featured in the documentary.

"I agreed because I want others to understand what it's like for the victim's side of the journey," Vicky Alexander wrote.

Vicky Alexander and several Corpus Christi police officers gathered this year on March 11 to remember Stuart Alexander on the seventh anniversary of his death. Vicky Alexander told the Caller-Times what being a police officer meant to her husband.

"He died doing what he loved best," she said. "Not many people get to do that."
