Samson 'the migrant dog' making his way to the U.S.

A Venezuelan family is traveling through Mexico with their dog, Samson, in hopes of a better life in the United States.

TORREÓN, Coahuila — His appearance may be a little intimidating to some, but Samson "the migrant dog" is winning many hearts.

The pitbull and his human family left their home in Venezuela four months ago in search of a better life in the United States. His owner, Aldo Salas, says the 16-month old pup was beaten by a policeman upon entering Mexico, in the state of Chiapas.

And while the trek hasn't been easy, Salas says Samson has made it safer, protecting them at night from theft and bodily harm. Samson's journey has come to a standstill now as they wait to enter the United States from the Mexican border.

His owner quite faithful his four-legged friend's vaccine documentation will satisfy U.S. authorities, and they'll be able to begin a new life.
