TORREÓN, Coahuila — It's time to celebrate the kitchen staple that has people divided into two camps, creamy or crunchy.
Wednesday is National Peanut Butter Day!
According to National Day Calendar, the early Incas and Aztecs created the first peanut butter around 1000 BC. However, it wasn't the creamy peanut butter we know now and was actually more of a paste.
It wasn't until the late 1800s when the peanut was considered to be more than animal feed.
And thanks to several inventions, peanut butter was introduced to audiences at the 1904 Universal Exposition in St. Louis. But we have to thank Joseph Rosefield for the peanut butter we love today.
In 1922, he found a way to keep the peanut oil from separating from the peanut solids.
Celebrate with your favorite version of a peanut butter sandwich and post on social media with the hashtag #nationalpeanutbutterday.
