The road to victory came after a bitter campaign for Mayor Taylor.
For the first time, Ivy Taylor's husband, Rodney Taylor, is talking publicly about the shooting outside his business, which became the focus of an attack ad and a murder investigation.
In November a drive-by shooting injured two teenagers and damaged the mayor's car and her husband's east-side business.
Rodney Taylor was criticized for not helping police identify the shooter. He explained he was never in a position to see who fired the shots.
"How would I identify the shooter? I was inside the business. I never saw anything," Rodney said.
Police said the Taylors were not the target of the shooting.
The man suspected by police of being the gunman in the drive-by has been arrested and charged in connection with a double murder at an east-side car wash in January.
