CIBOLO, Texas — In a collaboration made up of several prominent San Antonio-area groups and companies – including Santikos, VP Fuel and San Antonio Pets Alive! – a two-day family-friendly premiere event was held at the Santikos Cibolo theater in anticipation of the new film "The Art of Racing in the Rain."
Race cars, refreshments and even the opportunity to benefit the animals of SAPA! were on-hand in a new kind of local movie-premiere experience.
San Antonio may be nowhere near Hollywood, but VP Fuel, which has been in the region for nearly half a century, has had a prominent presence in big-budget productions, including every "Fast and Furious" film, this summer's "Hobbs & Shaw," "The Art of Racing in the Rain" and the upcoming "Bennett's War."
"Movies are a family experience and racing is a family experience as well, so immediately we said, 'This is a partnership, let's do it,'" said Bob Merz, a spokesperson for VP Fuel.
