Rudolfo Segovia Sr. founded the Segovia Mexican Candy Company in 1948 with the best candied apples in San Antonio. The company once produced a million candy apples over a four month period.
More recently the company was famous for its peanut patties, pecan pralines and leche quemada.
Due to personal reasons, the Segovia is closing its doors. It's possible the group will restructure and reopen in about a year.
For now a number of faithful customers made their way through the doors one more time.
Rudy Segovia Jr. said several sugar art pieces made by his father are going to an area museum.
