SAN ANTONIO -- Northside ISD will cap attendance at Taft High School because of overcrowding in the area.
Northside ISD said about 200 students will have to enroll at Brennan High School, which is roughly four miles from Taft High School.
District spokesman Pascual Gonzalez said if they don't implement this change, Taft High School will have 3,500 students.
Gonzalez said once the district's new Harlan High School opens in 2017, it will help the overcrowding issue. He said the area around Taft High School and Brennan High School is the fastest growing in the district.
"In north side because we open new schools every single year, the boundaries constantly shift and change. So, while this is an inconvenience certainly, for a couple of years its not unusual," said Gonzalez.
