In what is perhaps a cruel twist of irony, someone in Boulder tied a "Get well soon" balloon -- you know, the kind you can buy at the grocery store -- to the back of a dead raccoon.
The raccoon was spotted by Boulder Daily Camera reporter Sarah Kuta in the bike lane of Table Mesa Drive.
The poor road-killed raccoon likely met it's fate at the hands of a car.
Dunno what's worse, the raccoon or me creepily standing nearby watching people take photos of it.

Kuta has been tweeting the raccoon's sad ordeal on Twitter and was met with comments like "Only in Boulder" and "Wow. Boulder must be super lame for this to be news."
But still, people are pulling over and taking photos of it.
As to the origin of the balloon? Kuta tweeted that some people working for the city saw a man drive up and tie the balloon on the lifeless creature around 9:30 a.m.
And for now the raccoon stays, with a helium-filled message of hope, tied to its leg.
