SAN ANTONIO — Last week, the Boerne All-Stars pounded out 12 hits in a statement win over hometown Pennsylvania in the Little League World Series. On Monday evening they notched another victory with a more efficient style of play, taking advantage of opponent miscues to defeat Lake Mary Florida 4-1.

Julian Hurst, however, proved to be an X-factor in both games. The Boerne pitcher hurled a complete-game gem, striking out 10 while allowing just one run on three hits to beat a Florida team that crossed home plate six times on Friday. Hurst has 20 strikeouts through 10 innings pitched in the tourney so far.

The Boerne team faces Nevada on Wednesday at 2 p.m. CT, with the winner advancing directly to Saturday’s U.S. championship game.

“One more win and it’s weekend at Boerne’s!” ESPN analyst Tim Kurkjian said on the network’s broadcast.

Boerne themselves needed just three hits in the Monday win, along with patience and instincts at the plate. With the score 1-1 heading into the bottom of the third, the Southwest region representative scored twice on passed balls and a third time on a Doc Mogford single to gain their three-run lead.

That 4-1 Boerne advantage held up. Florida didn't manage a baserunner the rest of the way.

No team on the U.S. side of the bracket has scored more than Boerne's 13 runs through their two games of play.
